August
August ends the summer season
But we celebrate it for another reason
We have a more important view
It was the end of WW11
August 14, 1945
Is the day war ends, while we survive,
Japan surrendered, we sat tight
And we made sure we were all right
The USS Missouri was where peace was signed
In Tokyo Bay, which just came to mind
August was the month WW11 was ended
We won, since we were well defended
Rosie-the-Riveter, to whom we gave thanks
Gave up pots and pans, to build airplanes and tanks
And though it is said that War is Hell
We won because we fought so well
